Meeting Minutes - March 5, 2009

Opening
Meeting was opened by the chair, Debby Stinson.

Reading of the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report
The minutes were read and a motion was made by Doug Walls to accept them as read. Carolyn Jesse seconded the motion and the motion was carried. Roseann Cahoe, Treasurer, reported that there was $2504.11in the regular account.Bills remaining total $200.00 for the Kid’s Fest and $379.00 from the State is designated for the 2010 election, leaving $1,925.00 spendable.

Message from State Party Chair
Portions from our new State Party Chair, Charlie Moore and Jennifer Moore, our outgoing Chair were read.

Shelby County Executive Board
Members of the Executive Committee spoke about a united effort to unseat Gary Tapp in the next election

Message from Linda Belcher
Linda spoke of all the hard work being done on the Road Bill and improvements planned for 61 and Cedar Creek Rd.

Upcoming Events
Carolyn Jesse reported that the date for the FDR Dinner has been changed to Aug. 8 so as not to coincide with Fancy Farm. James Southern volunteered to handle the silent auction at the dinner.

Dorcus Comito made a suggestion to sell chances for a corn hole game. She is taking care of printing the tickets and Bob Stinson will make it. Happy Cahoe make a motion and Carolyn Jesse seconded to make the tickets a $1 donation and motion was passed.

Ben Roberts reported on the Young Democrat’s Convention. Valerie Biden will be there on March 27.

Executive Committee Vacancies
Carolyn Jesse nominated Tina Smith and was seconded by Shirley Lack.
Ben Roberts nominated Danielle Lortz and was seconded by Laura Roberts.
New members were elected by a vote of acclimation.

Public Comment
Kevin Mooney is still working on redistricting the Precincts and is making progress. The largest has been split.

David Strange announced he is running for County Judge.

Motion to adjourn was made by Scott Wantland and seconded by Carolyn Jesse. The motion was carried.
